Terror Didn't Stop Them

From the Jessica Esch: Fill in the Blanks exhibition

Original Statement:
"I think crisis has occurred in the world's history many times. I'm glad to say that in those other crises we didn't have radio, television and the movies to fan it up until everybody died of terror. What they give way on is terror. You can't do any of the things we did in the early part of the century if you're afraid. You can't be afraid of the real estate lobby; you can't be afraid of the associated manufacturers; you can't be afraid of the trade unions. You just can't be afraid of them if you're going to accomplish anything. The crowd that was operating then were not afraid. They just didn't know what terror meant." -Frances Perkins
